5 Simple Changes to Transition Your Wardrobe to Fall

Regardless of what the thermometer reads, Labor Day weekend typically marks the end of summer. September can feel like no man’s land in the world of style. Definitely too hot for fall clothes but you’re probably getting sick of your summer wardrobe. Additionally, the shift in season puts us all in a place of making transitions. Have any of your neighbors already started decorating for Halloween? See, some people are ready!

Transitioning your wardrobe when the weather isn’t ready to transition with you, can be tricky. I get asked this question every year but I had a couple new tricks to share with you. What I love about these is that most of them probably don’t require a trip to the mall. These are tweaks or swaps that include items you may already own, woohoo!

Here are some simple changes I will be following for the next couple of months.

Change your shoe selection

Replace this:

Your flip flops, espadrilles and any other sandal with something that works perfectly for milder temperatures.

For that:

Mules, slingback heels or sandals, ballet flats, loafers or sneakers

Choose fall tones

Replace this:

Bright florals, bold colors and white dresses are quintessential summer hues. It doesn’t have to be cold to move to fall colors now.

For that:

Muted fall tones like beige, brown, camel, tans and burnt orange, maroon and olive green

Opt for a wide leg crop pant

Replace this:

Your trusty denim shorts or skorts, minis and rompers with something breezy but more transitional.

For that:

Flowy wide leg pants that are cropped for full length. The wider leg and lightweight fabric makes them the less-stifling option compared to hoping right into a pair of denim jeans.

Swap out your accessories

Replace this:

Woven waist or linen pant belts, your adorable wicker bucket bag or tote and bright statement earrings or colorful beaded necklaces and bracelets with fall classic.

For that:

Leather belts for trousers and dresses, a leather tote or shoulder bag and classic metal earrings in gold and silver work every time.

Update your silhouette

Replace this:

A change in your silhouette goes a long way. From flowy and breezy tiered maxi and billowy skirts and pants to structured pieces.

For that:

A belted maxi, denim midi skirts or tailored slim pants match the tone of the season.

I hope these simple adjustments will provide a fresh take on your wardrobe during this interim season….should we call is sull or maybe fammer? Whatever you call it, do it stylishly!

All the best,

Angie
